I am a psychodynamic psychotherapist , my approach is essentially analytical. I have considerable experience of addictions having worked in an addictions unit and a crisis unit. My understanding of mental health issues ranges from extreme presentations of psychosis to borderline personality disorders and . I work both in the short term with solution focused approaches and in the long term, (open ended). Psychodynamic psychotherapy enables individuals to explore both present and past issues to gain greater insight and empowerment in implementing change by recognising patterns of behaviour. Realistically therapy is not about' fixing' things but more about starting to understand and find creative ways of thinking and experiencing life in ways that can enable change. I have worked in various settings in the voluntary sector including a busy GP practice. I have worked privately in Muswell Hill since 2011.

Background & Qualifications

I have a BACP accredited diploma in psychodyanmic counselling and I am an accredited practitioner registered on the BACP register. I also have an advanced certificate in CBT. I worked for several years in a Crisis Unit in haringey and believe that this experience has equipped me well to deal with a variety of presentations. I regularly work as an EAP provider and have considerable experience of addressing issues that are work related.

I am a BPC (Brtish Psychoanalytic Council) DIT (Dynamic Interpersonal Therapist) DIT is recommended by the NHS NICE guidelines for anxiety/dperession DIT is a short term model of 16 sessions.

Approach to Therapy & How I Work

My approach is analytical. When I assess clients I explore what is happening in the present and I will also think about the past as well as personal and family relationships. I think analytically and consider the therapy to be a joint venture where we can both explore and consider what is going on. I will work at a pace that suits you. I uphold confidentiality at all times and adhere to the code of ethics as set out buy the British Association of Counselling and Psychotherapy.
