Mark Hoffman Counselling

Mark Hoffman
Counsellor in London

I am a member of the British Association of Counselling and Psychotherapy (BACP). I offer integrative counselling, which is person-centred and psychodynamic. These approaches are uniquely tailored to you by looking at the present, which can lead to looking at your history and linking it to current concerns.

Before counselling, I had years of experience and a successful career in hospitality management with the ability to get on with people from all walks of life. Over the years, I have lived in several countries in Europe, Asia and Africa. I have engaged with many different cultures professionally and personally, furthermore being open-minded and culturally sensitive with those I meet.

I have worked for NHS Counselling for adults at GP practices in Wandsworth, London, and as a student counsellor for teens and young adults at South Thames College, London. I currently work for Cruse bereavement support.

Background & Counselling Qualifications

I studied at London Southbank University with a diverse group of students of different ages, genders, ethnicities, demographics, religions, and sexualities. Learning about diversity in-depth has enhanced my ability to sit with different clients and try to understand their worlds from their unique perspectives.

The CPCAB (Counselling and Psychotherapy Central Awarding Body) diploma is well-recognised. It is the official educational body of the BACP (British Association for Counselling and Psychotherapy), the biggest therapy and counselling body in the UK. The diploma has difference and diversity at its core, and I developed a vast understanding of working interculturally.

My Specialisms

I specialise in stress, anxiety, depression, bereavement, self-esteem, the inner critic, the inner child, loss, growing up in a dysfunctional home, codependency, sexuality, relationships, ADHD and obstacles to wellbeing.

I can work with those in 12-step recovery programs for addictions or for those concerned with alcohol, substances, work, sex, spending, fitness, video games and social media.

I am keen on mindfulness and can integrate grounding techniques into the sessions.

Approach to Counselling & How I Work

Do you feel that life's stresses, anxieties, and difficulties are weighing you down?

Working with me, you will explore what is getting you stuck in life so you can move forward, heal, and evolve. I offer support in an empathetic, non-judgemental way. I have experience helping those with a wide range of issues in a safe therapeutic space, allowing you to explore your aims and thoughts. Together we will explore your inner strengths and resources, building on these to improve your general wellbeing and self-growth.

You will have a confidential space where you can talk about concerns and problems. Going into counselling might be hard for some, so I will try my best to put you at ease and assist you through the process.

Walk and talk therapy might be an option for some near me in South London at Clapham Common, Tooting Bec Common and Streatham Common. For others, I offer counselling online worldwide, by telephone or face-to-face.

It might be anything from anxiety to depression, bereavement or loss, or an addiction to alcohol, fitness, sex or spending. Whatever your concern, you'll have a safe space to talk.
