Hello, I'm Danielle, wishing you a very warm welcome. We all can experience difficulty, turmoil and loss of meaning. Speaking to a professional that can receive what you say, think and feel without judgement can be a lifeline. Counselling is a way to, ‘bring the inside, out'. Through the process of sharing and reflecting, you can increase self-awareness, and so make clear choices to move forward. As a qualified counsellor, I will deeply trust and encourage your own inner ability to discover your own answers. I provide a space where all that you are can be warmly welcomed and accepted. We will move forward only at a pace that you are comfortable with. I am passionate about people finding their own sense of centre and power, and will hold that possibility as we work together. I have worked with a variety of issues, including: anxiety, depression, self-worth, abuse (emotional and physical), trauma, dissociation, existential crisis and loss of meaning in life, bereavement, grief, peri/menopausal shifts and eco-anxiety. I work with a variety of different ages and stages, from children aged 12, to the older generation, and people of all ethnicities.
Advanced Diploma in Person Centred Counselling and Psychotherapy Certificate in Counselling Children and Young People Online and Telephone Counselling Certificate Forest Bathing Guide Certificate Natural Mindfulness Guide Certificate Compassion Focused Therapy Trauma and Neuroscience, including Polyvagal theory Positive Neuroplasticity Existential approaches Scottish Mental Health First Aid As well as having a private practice with clients of all ages, I also work in High schools in Moray and the Highlands delivering counselling to young people aged 12-17.
I specialise in a trauma-informed compassion focused approach, that weaves in the theory and techniques of positive neuroplasticity. I am also an ecotherapy practitioner so offer a form of nature-connected counselling that involves nature connection practices; as well as 'walk and talk' therapy.
Talk therapy is at core a relational approach, the therapeutic relationship is key. I like to give clients space to develop their own agency and empowerment in leading the sessions and determining the pace they wish therapy to evolve at. With this in mind the process is collaborative and very respectful of the client's needs, goals and wishes. The therapy I offer is not about dealing out various 'coping' strategies for a quick fix as this misses the very important potential process of exploring and resolving deeply held issues. My goal as a therapist is essentially to see clients fully thrive, not 'cope', and while the use of carefully chosen strategies tailored to the needs of the client may have a very important place, it is not the destination.
