Hi and Welcome My name is Elaine Parke and I live my working life as a Therapist and Hypnotherapist based in Cardiff and Pembrokeshire. I also offer Hypnobirthing training. I am a very experienced therapist having worked in paid employment in this field for the last 25 years. Before this I was employed as a Nurse and also a Midwife, so my entire career has been within the helping/caring professions. I recently saw a careers poster at the university where I worked which said; " if you find a job you enjoy you will never have to work a single day in your life " This pretty much sums up how I feel about what I do ! I am passionate about my work. My mission in life is to help people find the right path for them and give them strategies to stay on it.

I have worked solely as a therapist for over 25 years. Previously I worked as a Senior Counsellor in a University setting in Cardiff. I was with this University first as a Campus Nurse and then as a Counsellor/ Hypnotherapist for 27 years. I ran a Hypnotherapy service for students at this University which proved to be very popular, with many successful outcomes for students. I now provide a private therapy practise where I work with all age groups and all issues through private referrals and Employee Assistance Programme referrals. Many of my clients are recommended to me by word of mouth. I am an ex nurse and midwife and find this experience and training to be really useful in my therapy work. My main training is in Cognitive Behavioural Therapy as this was the main focus of my Masters Degree. However I am trained and use other approaches (Person centred, Psychodynamic, Solution focused, to name a few) and use these as and when required by different clients. My main aim is to use an approach that fits my clients needs, as every client is different, and there is no room in my therapy for "one size fits all !" I have a strong belief In the importance of the therapeutic relationship so this is the base all my therapeutic work is delivered from. Many ex clients have commented on the warmth and safety they feel in the therapeutic environment/ space that I offer. This encourages them to explore their thoughts, feelings and behaviours, leading them to feel empowered to make life changes where needed in order to lead a more fulfilling life. I incorporate Hypnotherapy into my therapeutic work with clients if I feel this to be appropriate and the client gives permission . I have found this combination of skills to be incredibly useful when working with a wide variety of issues that my many clients bring to me. I look forward to working with you.
