Counselling can help with many issues such as relationships, circumstances or mental health. You may be feeling anxious, depressed, lost, lonely or overwhelmed. Traumas past and present negatively impact upon our quality of life and coping mechanisms can fail or become unhelpful. Counselling allows some time and space to shine a light on your issues and it can provide insight and clarity. It's an opportunity for honest open communication, without the fear of judgement and repercussions. This supported self-exploration tends to aid growth and healing, ultimately resulting in change and acceptance. Whether you're troubled by old wounds that are still causing pain in the present or by a current life event, being deeply seen and heard by another can make a difference. Whatever's causing you distress is worth exploring. I won't diagnose you or tell you what to do. Instead I provide you with a collaborative therapeutic relationship and the opportunity to work things through with support.
I'm a graduate Integrative Counsellor working in Cardiff and Abergavenny, online and over the phone. I have past experience in mental health, general practice and domestic abuse settings. I offer short-term, long-term and open-ended counselling. I have a National Open College Network Counselling Skills Certificate, (2010) and a BA (Hons) Counselling Studies Degree, (2013). I'm an Accredited Registrant member of The National Counselling and Psychotherapy Society, which is on The Professional Standards Authority Accredited Register.
I have specialized in anxiety, depression and domestic violence, alongside maintaining a general practice. Many problems respond well to talking therapies including: anxiety, depression, low self-esteem, relationships, loss, abuse and trauma. I currently work in person with individual adults aged 18 years of age and above. I also offer telephone and online sessions.
My training included a range of approaches including: Humanistic, CBT, Psychodynamic, Gestalt, TA and Person centred. This means that I can tailor my way of working around whatever you need to bring. If you feel that a collaborative and understanding therapeutic relationship could benefit you, then please get in touch for a no obligation initial consultation. We can discuss your situation, expectations and any aims and goals you may have. Appointments are available Monday to Friday, 10am - 7pm. As I'm not always available to take calls, please don't hesitate to leave an answer phone message. You can also contact me by text or e-mail. I usually manage to reply within 24 hours during the working week.
