Maire Stedman

I am a qualified and experienced Individual, Couple, Family & Systemic Psychotherapist with over 25 years experience of working in the NHS; not-for-profit sector, and the social care sectors, as well as working in independent & private practice. I have experience in working cross-culturally with individuals, couples, and families, including working with interpreters. I have worked extensively with trauma, anxiety, and depression, as well as post-migration issues. I have also worked with families and children experiencing separation and divorce. In addition, I have a great deal of experience of working with stress and employment-related issues. As well as working with adults, I have experience in the full range of child and adolescent mental health issues and enjoy working with all age groups. In addition to my MSc in Systemic Psychotherapy, I have undertaken training in the Emotionally Focused Couple therapy model (EFT) and have experience in working with couples from the initial stages of relationships to the more complex issues that can arise over time. I also work with couples who feel that they have reached the end of their ability to carry on with a marriage/relationship and are thinking about separation or divorce. In this context I also work with children in the family in making sense of what their parents separation/divorce means for them. I offer a warm confidential safe and accepting space, in which we can look together at the issues that you are facing. I look forward to working collaboratively with you. In addition to clinical practice, I provide Systemic Supervision for therapists working in a variety of settings, including independent practice. I am a registered and accredited supervisor with AFT (Association for Family Therapy) and UKCP (United Kingdom Council for Psychotherapy).
