I’m an experienced BACP-accredited counsellor offering individual and relationship counselling in Brentford. I work with a wide range of concerns, including anxiety, low mood, low confidence, people-pleasing, difficult relationship patterns, identity and questions about direction or meaning in life.
A significant part of my work is with men, both gay and straight, although my practice is open to everyone. My approach is relational, straightforward and non-judgemental. I aim to offer a space where you can speak openly, understand yourself more fully, recognise recurring patterns and consider what may need to change.
I hold a BA (Hons) in Integrative Relational Counselling and am an Accredited Member of the British Association for Counselling and Psychotherapy (BACP). I have worked in counselling for around ten years, both in private practice and within other professional settings.
My wider experience includes providing counselling through a local authority Occupational Health service and within an NHS setting. Alongside my private practice, I also teach counselling to adult learners at a further education college. My ongoing teaching, professional development and clinical supervision all continue to inform and develop my work as a counsellor.
A significant part of my work focuses on anxiety, low mood, low confidence, people-pleasing, boundaries and difficult or recurring relationship patterns. I also work with questions around identity, masculinity, fatherhood, direction and meaning in life.
I work particularly well with men, both gay and straight, including younger men who may be trying to make sense of themselves, their relationships or their place in the world. My practice is not limited to men, and I welcome clients from a wide range of backgrounds and life experiences.
My interest is often in helping people understand the patterns behind their difficulties, recognise where they may have become stuck, and consider what they may want to change.
My approach is Integrative Relational, which means I draw on different therapeutic ideas rather than working from one fixed model, while placing particular importance on the relationship we develop together.
I would describe my way of working as warm, straightforward and down-to-earth. I aim to provide a space where you can speak openly without feeling judged, including about thoughts, feelings or behaviours that may be difficult to acknowledge elsewhere.
I see therapy as a collaborative and active process. I will listen carefully and offer support, but I will also ask questions, share observations and, where it may be helpful, challenge you respectfully. This might involve looking at a situation from another perspective, recognising your own part in a recurring pattern, or considering what you may want to do differently.
We may explore how earlier experiences have shaped the way you think, feel and relate to others today, while also paying attention to what is happening in your life now. I adapt the work to the individual rather than expecting you to fit a particular therapeutic model.
My aim is not to tell you how to live your life, but to help you understand yourself more clearly, develop greater confidence in your own choices and find ways of relating to yourself and others that work better for you.
