Hello, I'm Megan, founder of Picking Up The Pieces.
I'm a counsellor and psychotherapist, offering a warm, compassionate, and non-judgemental space where you can feel heard, understood, and supported. Whether we meet in person or online, I aim to help you explore whatever is going on for you at a pace that feels comfortable and right.
Before retraining as a therapist, I worked in the music and broadcasting industry. Following significant trauma, I experienced serious challenges with my own mental health. Like many people, I tried to keep going and manage alone, but eventually I reached a point of crisis that required hospital support.
While incredibly difficult, that experience became the beginning of a deeper journey of healing and self-discovery. It showed me how easy it can be to lose sight of our own well-being while trying to cope with life's demands, and how powerful the right support can be when we are struggling.
Inspired by my own recovery, I retrained as a therapist to help others navigate difficult times. Today, I work with people experiencing a range of challenges, including anxiety, depression, trauma, grief, low self-esteem, life transitions, emotional overwhelm, and feelings of being stuck or disconnected. I also maintain my work with many individuals in the creative industries, such as actors, authors, musicians, and stage and technical staff, giving back emotional support to a profession I was once in.
I offer single sessions, short-term support, and longer-term therapy, working with clients locally, nationally, and internationally. My approach is rooted in empathy, authenticity, and creating a safe therapeutic relationship where you feel accepted without judgement.
You don't need to be in crisis to reach out. Whether you're facing a specific challenge or simply feeling that something needs to change, support is available.
If you're ready to start picking up the pieces, rebuilding confidence, or reconnecting with yourself, I'd be honoured to walk alongside you. Please get in touch for a confidential conversation about how I can support you on your journey.

Trauma
As a psychotherapeutic therapist, I work holistically, recognising that each person is unique and shaped by their past experiences, present circumstances, and hopes for the future. Together, we explore these aspects of your life to develop a deeper understanding of who you are, what may be holding you back, and what meaningful change might look like for you.
At the heart of my work is the Relational, Psycho-Spiritual and Psychodynamic Connections Model, which explores the relationship between the four key aspects of self: mind, emotions, body, and soul. This model is founded on the belief that wellbeing grows when we feel connected to ourselves, others, and the world around us. When one or more of these aspects become disconnected through trauma, loss, life experiences, or emotional pain, it can leave us feeling fragmented, overwhelmed, or unsure of who we are.
The therapeutic relationship is central to this process. Through a safe, supportive, and trusting connection, we can begin to understand and heal these disconnections, helping you move towards greater balance, self-awareness, and emotional wellbeing. My approach is integrative, drawing on a range of theories and techniques, including Person-Centred Therapy, Psychodynamic Therapy, Gestalt, Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT), and Transpersonal Psychology. This allows me to tailor therapy to your individual needs, rather than applying a one-size-fits-all approach.
Counselling and psychotherapy can offer different levels of support. Counselling is often shorter-term and focuses on specific challenges or areas of life that may be causing distress. Psychotherapy tends to be a deeper process, exploring longstanding emotional difficulties, relationship patterns, beliefs, or behaviours that may have developed over time.
Whatever brings you to therapy, you do not have to navigate it alone. Together, we can work towards greater self-understanding, healing, empowerment, and a stronger connection with yourself and the life you want to create.
