About me

Hi, I'm Suzanne, a fully qualified and accredited Integrative Psychotherapist.

My approach is grounded in a rich blend of therapeutic theories that explore human development, relationships, and the many ways we make sense of our experiences. I believe that no single model can fully capture the complexity of who we are or our potential for growth. For this reason, I draw upon a range of therapeutic perspectives, tailoring my approach to meet the unique needs of each individual.

I work in private practice with both adults and children, and alongside this, I previously spent 12 years working within an educational setting. This experience has given me a deep understanding of the emotional, social, and developmental challenges that can arise at different stages of life, allowing me to support clients with empathy, sensitivity, and insight.

My passion for psychotherapy grew from my own journey of self-discovery, which has included personal therapy, group work, ongoing professional development, and working with people from diverse backgrounds and life experiences. These experiences continue to shape my practice and reinforce my belief in the transformative power of a safe, trusting therapeutic relationship.

I understand that reaching out for support can feel daunting. Taking that first step often requires courage, particularly when you're struggling with difficult thoughts, emotions, or life circumstances. My aim is to provide a warm, respectful, and collaborative space where you feel genuinely heard, understood, and accepted without judgement.

Therapy offers an opportunity to pause, reflect, and explore your experiences at your own pace. Together, we can make sense of thoughts, feelings, and patterns that may be leaving you feeling stuck, overwhelmed, confused, or distressed. Through listening, understanding, and exploration, we can work towards greater self-awareness, resilience, and meaningful change.

Above all, I provide a safe, supportive, and confidential environment where you can talk openly about whatever is troubling you and feel supported in navigating life's challenges.

Experience

I currently work in private practice and have over 15 years of counselling experience. Alongside this, I previously spent 12 years working within an educational setting, supporting children, young people, and families.

Through my voluntary work with Place2Be, a leading children's mental health charity, as well as my experience within drug and alcohol services and the probation service, I have developed a deep understanding of the diverse challenges people face. These experiences have enabled me to tailor my therapeutic approach to meet each individual exactly where they are, creating a safe, supportive, and non-judgemental space for change and growth.

I also have experience working with insurance companies and Employee Assistance Programmes (EAPs), helping clients navigate their coverage and making counselling as accessible and straightforward as possible.

Specialisms

In addition to my core counselling work, I have experience supporting neurodivergent individuals, including children, young people, and adults with ADHD, Autism, and other forms of neurodiversity. I am passionate about creating a supportive, inclusive, and understanding environment where each person's unique strengths, experiences, and perspectives are respected and valued.

Therapeutic work involves listening, understanding, exploration, and support. Together, we can reflect on your experiences and gently explore the thoughts, feelings, and patterns that may be leaving you feeling stuck, confused, distressed, or overwhelmed. Therapy can offer a fresh perspective on current challenges, helping you gain greater clarity, self-awareness, and understanding of what is happening in your life. Above all, I provide a safe, supportive, and fully confidential space where you can share your thoughts and feelings without fear of judgement.

With younger clients, I often incorporate creative approaches such as play and art-based interventions. These developmentally appropriate methods can help children express emotions, experiences, and concerns that may be difficult to communicate through words alone, enabling them to explore and process their feelings in a way that feels natural and comfortable.

While I do not provide formal diagnostic assessments, I work with many clients who are neurodivergent, including those with ADHD, Autism, and Oppositional Defiant Disorder (ODD). Through my experience, I am often able to recognise characteristics that may indicate neurodivergence and can support individuals in exploring these experiences, while also signposting them towards appropriate assessment pathways where needed.

My Approach

As an Integrative Psychotherapist, I offer both short-term, focused therapy and longer-term, open-ended work, depending on your individual needs and what feels most beneficial for you. Whether you are seeking support with a specific difficulty, navigating a life transition, or looking to gain a deeper understanding of yourself, therapy can provide a space for meaningful exploration and growth.

My aim is to create a warm, supportive, and reflective environment where you can pause, feel heard, and make sense of your experiences at your own pace. Together, we can explore thoughts, feelings, behaviours, and relationship patterns, helping you develop greater self-awareness, resilience, and emotional wellbeing.

I believe that each person's journey is unique, and my intention is always to meet you where you are, offering a steady, compassionate, and non-judgemental presence as we work together on what matters most to you. Whatever brings you to therapy, I strive to provide a safe and collaborative space where you feel supported in moving towards greater clarity, confidence, and wellbeing.
