Mindfulness Practitioner in East Grinstead

Coronavirus is facing us with tough new challenges. Looking after our mental and emotional health is critical. Anxiety and stress are widespread. Many of us are experiencing restricted freedom, reduced income, and the stress which can go with being confined in our homes, with children, for extended periods. Therapy with an experienced professional can be a life-line. During the lockdown period, I shall be working on skype, at reduced rates, to be agreed with each person individually.

Background & Qualifications

I took a four year Dip.Psych at the Centre for Counselling and Psychotherapy Education in London. The course was essentially Integrative and Humanistic in nature, introducing students to a broad range of therapeutic approaches and encouraging us to adopt those best suited to each individual with whom we work.

There was particular focus on the transpersonal perspective and the significance of the soul journey. This is a time when many of us are experiencing challenges at the spiritual level and I have a special interest in working with those going through challenges of that nature.

My NHS-related work involved constant ongoing training, including courses on Cognitive Behavioural Therapy, Dynamic Interpersonal Therapy and Stress Control.

I am accustomed to working on the telephone - and skype sessions are a service I offer in addition to face-to-face work.

In addition to my psychotherapy qualifications, I hold an honours degree in Business Studies and a BA in English from Trinity College Dublin.

My Specialisms

Over two decades, I have worked with people encountering all kinds of challenges in their lives. Although I would not claim to 'specialise' the areas in which I have most experience include:

Relationship issues [working with individual and couples]
Stress and anxiety
Depression
Unresolved family issues
Bereavement
Problems with conception
Abortion and miscarriage trauma
Addictions
Low self esteem and confidence

Approach to Therapy & How I Work

I feel there are risks in seeking to be a particular 'type' of therapist. For me, each client is an individual, and what works for one may not work for another. I do my utmost to call on whatever therapeutic approach I feel will be of most benefit to the person [or couple] with me at any given moment. Above all, I seek to establish in my home an environment in which people feel comfortable and secure, safe to trust me with whatever they wish without fear of judgement or criticism.
