About me

Sandy has a warm and friendly approach and specialises in anxiety related difficulties. Sandy is a very experienced hypnotherapist and has a diverse range of skills which she is continually updating her skills.  She works with a number of different therapies;  Mindfulness based therapies, NLP (Neuro Linguistic Programming) techniques, Ego State Therapy, Hypno-EMDR (Eye Movement Desensitisation and Reprocessing) therapy.  EMDR therapy is an evidence based therapy which has had remarkable success with PTSD and other forms of stress related problems. All therapy is client-centred.  This means that the client takes an active role in his or her treatment.  The therapist acts as a facilitator to self discovery while being non-directive and supportive. Sandy is registered with the Complimentary and Natural Healthcare Council (CNHC), the only government endorsed UK regulator for complementary healthcare.

My Approach

My approach to therapy is always client centred meaning that client and therapist work together in collaboration to achieve the best therapeutic outcome. I work with a variety of different approaches depending on the needs of my client, however, I tend to work with mindfulness based therapies alongside hypnotherapy and CBT as they are complimentary to the healing process. Mindfulness can help bring you back to the present rather than worrying about what might happen in the future or travelling back into the past and ruminating about what has already happened and cannot be changed. The mindfulness based therapies that I work with are ACT - Acceptance and Commitment Therapy, CFT - Compassion Focused Therapy and DBT - Dialectical Behaviour Therapy. I also work with Hypno-EMDR (Eye Movement Desensitisation and Reprocessing Therapy alongside hypnotherapy) and have had some amazing results with this. EMDR is an evidence based treatment widely used in the NHS to help people suffering from PTSD. EMDR can be successfully used to treat a number of difficulties as well as stress and anxiety. I have experienced first hand how the power of the mind can help you turn things around and make changes at the most difficult and dark times and I'd like to help you do the same.
