Amber Knights
Psychotherapist in Ashton Keynes

I am an experienced psychotherapist and Clinical Director at Khiron Clinics, a leading trauma-focused residential facility in the UK. I bring years of specialist experience working with complex trauma, including Complex PTSD, Dissociative Identity Disorder (DID), and conditions across the dissociative spectrum.

I am trained in Internal Family Systems (IFS Level 1), Neurofeedback, and I am Polyvagal-informed. I also integrate Deep Brain Reorienting (Level 2) into my clinical work, an approach that targets attachment shock and early relational trauma at the level of the brainstem. I have had training from some of the leading world experts in trauma.

Originally from Malta, I served as a manager at Victim Support Malta, where I played a key role in launching one of the country's first suicide prevention therapeutic support teams. My work involved supporting survivors of crime, domestic violence, and other traumatic experiences. Over the years, I have also worked closely with multiple agencies supporting individuals with addiction, eating disorders, and histories of sexual abuse.

Earlier in my career, I collaborated with the Human-Dolphin Institute in the USA, exploring innovative therapeutic interventions. I've also taught part-time in the Department of Criminology at the University of Malta, and I continue to enjoy facilitating training and workshops.

I am a mother of three and a lover of animals, I bring professionalism, integrity, and deep passion to my work. At Khiron Clinics, I lead with a commitment to clinical excellence and compassionate care, guiding a dedicated team in delivering safe, integrative, and effective treatment for individuals recovering from early attachment wounds and complex trauma.

Approach to Psychotherapy & How I Work

My therapeutic work is grounded in process, compassion, and the relational experience.

I see therapy as an unfolding process, a space where we can slow down and gently meet what arises. Each person's healing journey is unique, and I work collaboratively, attuning to what feels alive, present, and ready to be explored in that moment.

Compassion is central to my approach. Whether you're navigating grief, trauma, uncertainty, or transition, I hold space with warmth and respect, meeting you exactly where you are without judgment. This creates a foundation of safety that allows deeper layers of experience to emerge and be integrated.

My own lived experience deeply informs how I show up as a therapist. I know what it's like to move through pain, to feel stuck, and to long for connection and clarity. I offer a space where you can come into fuller relationship with yourself, your story, your emotions, your resilience and where growth can happen at a pace that honours your process.
