Billie Dunlevy Psychotherapy

Billie Dunlevy
Psychotherapist in London

I'm someone who really cares about my work and the craft of psychotherapy. Every day I get to see the positive impact my professional contribution has on my client's lives and their futures. I'm proud to be part of change and growth that touches the lives of many beyond the therapy room.

I am a BACP Accredited Integrative Therapist Adv.Dip. and Mindfulness Practitioner with over 12 years of experience supporting people with their mental health.

I have a particular interest in working with Men and Women Millennials and Gen Zs dealing with low self esteem, perfectionist tendencies, comparison anxiety and healing from childhood inter generational trauma. I work with lots of clients who have ADHD and I often work with people who are adult children from dysfunctional families looking to carve out their own path and manage chronic shame. I also work closely with grief in it's many shapes and circumstances; life transitions and supporting you through your evolution in periods of change and flux.

Prior to setting up private practice I helped people in addiction and recovery within council funded settings. I also spent 6 years working in the charity sector directly supporting and holding space for patients and their families going through cancer treatment and beyond.

I trained as a therapist for many reasons one of them being the transformative and healing experience I had in my own therapy. From this I knew I wanted to help others to change, who felt lost and overwhelmed. To work with people to create more compassion and safety with a deeper understanding and ownership of their life story. With support, change and growth remain possible even in challenging circumstances. Having had lots of therapy myself I understand what it is like to sit in your chair and I bring this awareness to our work. I believe in our right to our own voice, and I'm passionate and curious about why we are the way we are.

Approach to Psychotherapy & How I Work

My style is relational and I have an integrative approach. This simply means I am able to blend different ideas to benefit my clients; working with both the unconscious and what is happening in the here and now ( In the room between us) . I lean in predominantly to depth oriented psychodynamic psychotherapy and attachment theory in our work together. It's my job to access my intuitive wisdom to both hear what you say and understand and interpret what is communicated between us on many levels.

My aim is to help you to reach a deeper understanding of your issues allowing you with time, to make changes and move forward. My approach is direct and supportive. I'm not the kind of therapist who sits, stares and says nothing! Neither am I the kind to take your money for a year and only offer validation of your lived experience in return. I will listen with curiosity and care, but I am also here to gently challenge you and offer you insights to help guide you to your own realizations. Therapy is about slowing down, not speeding up. It's in slowing down that we can begin to develop a connection and be curious about what might be going on for you.
