Kershia Williams
Psychotherapist in Nottingham

Welcome to Psychotherapy with Kershia.

Life and relationships can sometimes feel overwhelming, and you may be used to figuring things out on your own. Whether it's because you don't like asking for help or it's just what you're accustomed to, it can sometimes leave you feeling stuck. Maybe there's something from your past affecting your present, or you're looking to improve the quality of your relationships.

The relational-developmental psychotherapy I offer provides a supportive space where you won't be alone. Together, we'll explore what you bring to therapy, tracing the roots of your experiences to better understand and work through them.

What You Can Expect:- A dedicated space to talk- One-hour sessions (not the typical 50-minute therapeutic hour)- A different experience from your other relationships—this space is 100% yours- Insight into patterns and links that explain why things are the way they are- A supportive, empathetic, and non-judgmental environment- Predictability, transparency, and honest feedback- Care and validation for your feelings- A trusting therapeutic environment- No preconceptions about how long therapy should last or what you need to bring to it.

Why Accreditation Matters: I am UKCP accredited, which means my work is regulated by a trusted body, ensuring I adhere to ethical standards. This accreditation provides a layer of accountability that's crucial in maintaining professionalism and client trust. While anyone can call themselves a psychotherapist, being registered with an accredited organisation like the UKCP ensures that I follow ethical guidelines and a complaints process, offering you protection and peace of mind.

Starting Therapy with Me: We begin with a 15-minute complimentary phone or video conversation. I recommend speaking with a few therapists before making your decision. If you decide to proceed, we'll schedule a one-hour assessment session. I'll provide a contract outlining the structure of therapy, including policies on cancellations and holidays. From there, we can begin the therapeutic journey.

Private Practice Days and Hours: I am available for sessions on Tuesday, Wednesday, and Thursday between 10:30am and 4pm, with a lunchtime slot also available on Saturday.

Approach to Psychotherapy & How I Work

What Is Integrative Psychotherapy? Some psychotherapists train in one theoretical approach, such as person-centred therapy. As an integrative psychotherapist, I combine multiple approaches, including psychodynamic, attachment theory, transactional analysis (TA), and person-centred approaches. This allows me to explore how past experiences have shaped you and how these continue to affect you in the present. By understanding the root of an issue, we can work together toward lasting change through our therapeutic relationship.
