Leanne Bartrip
Psychotherapist in Peterborough

I am a qualified BACP-registered therapist with over ten years of experience supporting individuals through a wide range of emotional and psychological challenges.
My approach is pluralistic, meaning I integrate different therapeutic models to ensure that each session is tailored to the unique needs of the client. While my work is primarily informed by Person-Centred Therapy and Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT), I also draw from a variety of other therapeutic approaches. This flexibility allows me to adapt the process to each client's goals, preferences, and circumstances.
At the heart of my practice is the belief that therapy should be a safe, compassionate, and non-judgmental space where clients feel heard, valued, and empowered to make meaningful change. I strive to create an environment that encourages self-understanding, resilience, and growth.
Outside of work, I enjoy adventures with my dog, Rex, as well as quiet evenings at home watching movies with popcorn. I have a love for motorsports and getting lost in a good book, and each year I look forward to our family retreat to a cabin in the woods—a time to reconnect with nature and recharge.

Background & Psychotherapy Qualifications

I hold a degree in Counselling and Psychotherapy and am currently completing a Master's in Psychology, further expanding my understanding of human behaviour, emotional processes, and mental health.
Over the course of my career, I have supported clients facing a wide range of challenges, including low mood, anxiety, self-esteem difficulties, domestic violence, trauma, self-harm, and neurodevelopmental conditions. My therapeutic approach is compassionate, collaborative, and client-led, with a focus on helping individuals develop resilience, self-awareness, and emotional wellbeing.
I am currently employed within the NHS, providing therapy and emotional support to both adults and children. My previous roles have involved working across various counties and organisations, offering counselling to individuals from diverse backgrounds and life experiences. This breadth of experience has strengthened my ability to tailor therapy to meet each client's unique needs and circumstances.

Approach to Psychotherapy & How I Work

To begin, I offer an initial 15-minute telephone consultation. This gives us an opportunity to discuss your needs, introduce myself, and answer any questions you may have about therapy. It also helps us determine whether working together feels like the right fit.
If we agree to begin therapy, we will arrange a time to meet either online or in person. During this first session, we will go through the therapy contract, complete initial questionnaires, and decide on the structure of therapy—whether open-ended or time-limited. Together, we will agree on session duration, frequency, and scheduling to ensure the process is manageable and comfortable for you.
Once this is in place, we will begin our therapy sessions, working collaboratively through the agreed approach. Throughout the process, I remain flexible and responsive to your progress and feedback, adjusting the focus or method as needed to best support your growth and wellbeing.
