I have qualified as a Psychodynamic Psychotherapist at WPF, London, accredited by Roehampton University.
I have also qualified as a DIT Therapist (Dynamic Interpersonal Therapy) at WPF, accredited by the Tavistock & Portman and the Anna Freud Centre, London.
I am a Psychodynamic therapist - the models explores unconscious conflicts and material, together with more conscious difficulties within a safe relationship built between the client and the therapist. Exploring these issues and re-experiencing unresolved or problematic feelings within a containing therapeutic relationship opens the way and opportunites for insight and change. It can turn unbereable feelings bereable. This model seeks to increase clients' self awareness and understanding how their past influences present thoughts and behaviours, by exploring unconscious patterns.
I also offer Dynamic Interpersonal Therapy (DIT) - this model is a simple short term (16 sessions) individual therapy protocol mainly for mood disorders. It aims to help you understand the connection between presenting symptons and what is happening in your relationships through identifying a core of repetitive patterns of relating that can be traced back to childhood. Once these pattern are identified, the model will be used to make sense of difficulties in relationships in the here-and-now that contribute to psychological stress. DIT focuses mostly on relationship problems.
I offer a first consultation that lasts for 90 minutes where you would be invited to talk about the reasons why you are seeking therapy and what is troubling you. I might ask you a few questions about your background, upbringing and relationships.
It would be opportunities for you to ask me further questions about the way I work.
If we are both happy to go ahead we would make an agreement to work together, which would cover fees, absences, breaks, holidays and how often and when we would meet.
I work as a Psychodynamic therapist as well as a DIT (Dynamic Interpersonal TherapY) therapist. In both models the sessions last for 50 minutes.
