About me

Hello. My name is Ann-Louise Mccarthy. I am a Psychoanalytic Psychotherapist and Clinical Supervisor with a particular interest in attachment theory and believe that the relationship between client and therapist is an integral aspect of the work we do together. I am registered to practice with the United Kingdom Council for Psychotherapy (UKCP).

My practice is based in Whitstable, Kent which is close to Herne Bay, Faversham and Canterbury.

I am committed to providing Psychoanalytic and Psychodynamic Psychotherapy in a safe, confidential and non-judgemental environment.

I work one-to-one with individual adults and couples, on an open-ended basis or for an agreed time period.

My Approach

I work Psychodynamically, face to face with clients with an empathic and non-judgemental approach.

My theoretical focus is based on attachment theory and the impact of important interpersonal relationships, as well as the unconscious.

I attend supervision and Professional Development training on a regular basis, throughout the year, as I believe expanding my knowledge and keeping up to date with current developments in Psychotherapy and mental and emotional health issues is important.

My consulting room is not located in a busy multi-use Psychotherapy centre. It is a private space which allows for clients to talk confidentially in the knowledge that their privacy and security are a priority.
