Hello, I'm Denisa Collins. I am a qualified and accredited counsellor/psychotherapist based in Kent. I offer counselling/psychotherapy in West Malling, Gillingham, Sittingbourne, Maidstone and online Nationwide, with a free 20-minute no obligation telephone consultation so you can ask any questions you may have, and so I can let you know how I work to see if I am a good fit for you. I started my counselling journey months after I learned that one of my friends has died of suicide. It was a shock to us all who knew him. He appeared all happy and well on his social media, but nobody probably knew what was going on for him behind closed doors. Sometimes I think to myself, what if I reached out and said "Hello , how are you doing?" Maybe we all need that one person to care and be interest in our being. I would like to be that person for you, to listen to provide that safe space for you to feel heard and understood. I've also encountered my own challenges, including infertility issues, grief, phobia and professional burnout, and I bring that real-life insight into the work I do.
I am originally from Slovakia, I've lived in England for over 20 years. I speak fluently English, Slovak and Czech. QUALIFICATIONS: Level 5 Diploma in Therapeutic Counselling Practice Level 4 Diploma in Counselling Skills & Theory Level 3 Diploma in Hypnotherapy and Introduction to Counselling Skills NVQ Level 3 in Health and Social Care NCFE Level 2 Certificate in Working with People with Mental Health Issues BSW- Bachelor's degree in social work
For the last few years, I've been supporting survivors of sexual abuse and rape in Kent. Together we worked to figure out what was needed to feel safe again. For instance, working on: · Managing flashbacks (and have less of them!) · Improved sleep with less nightmares · A calmer body with less panic attacks or being ‘on edge' · Re-building healthy relationships and learning to trust again · Figuring out who you are now, after this trauma · (Very) slowly facing the things you find yourself avoiding, but want to face again Other areas: Low self-esteem Anxiety and negative thinking Depression Family estrangement Relationship difficulties Fertility issues, Pregnancy trauma Childhood trauma Sexual abuse and recovery Bereavement Suicide idealization Self harm Sexuality and sexual relationships
I use Pluralistic Therapeutic approach, which focuses on the client's needs and preferences. It's based on the idea that each client is unique and may benefit from different methods at different times. Through counselling, you'll also gain the tools to rebuild your self-esteem and boost your sense of self-worth. Our sessions will guide you toward a life that feels more balanced, fulfilling, and manageable. I am down to earth, kind, empathic, and have a sense of humour. My aim is to be alongside you on your journey and in your struggles offering support and insights as to why you are probably feeling the way you do, I am passionate about empowering you to make your own decisions, realise your worth and live a life that feels authentic to you.
