About me

Hello, I'm Peter, an Accredited Cognitive Behavioural Therapist (CBT) and EMDR Europe Accredited Practitioner with extensive experience supporting adults experiencing a wide range of emotional and psychological difficulties.

I understand that reaching out for therapy can be a difficult step. Many people seek support when they are feeling overwhelmed, stuck, exhausted, or struggling to cope with challenges that are affecting their daily lives, relationships, work, or overall well-being. My aim is to provide a safe, supportive, and non-judgmental environment where you can talk openly about your experiences and work towards meaningful and lasting change.

I work with individuals experiencing anxiety, depression, trauma, PTSD, low self-esteem, stress, panic attacks, obsessive-compulsive disorder (OCD), and a range of other emotional difficulties. I also have significant experience supporting people with more complex and longstanding mental health difficulties, helping them to better understand their experiences and develop effective strategies for recovery.

Alongside my private practice, I work within NHS Community Mental Health Services, supporting people with a broad range of presentations, from common mental health problems through to more complex and enduring difficulties. This experience allows me to bring a depth of clinical understanding whilst maintaining a compassionate, person-centred approach.

I believe that every person's story is unique. Therapy is not about simply applying techniques; it is about understanding your individual experiences, identifying what is maintaining your difficulties, and working together to help you move forward. Whether you are struggling with a recent life event, the impact of trauma, or difficulties that have been present for many years, I will work collaboratively with you to help you achieve your goals and improve your quality of life.

Experience

I am a BABCP Accredited Cognitive Behavioural Therapist (CBT) and an EMDR Europe Accredited Practitioner with extensive experience working across NHS and private practice settings. Alongside my private practice, I work within NHS Community Mental Health Services, supporting individuals with a wide range of mental health difficulties, including trauma, PTSD, anxiety, depression, and complex presentations.

In addition to providing therapy, I am a qualified Clinical Supervisor and have experience supporting the development of both trainee and qualified therapists. I am committed to ongoing professional development and maintaining the highest standards of evidence-based, ethical, and compassionate clinical practice.

My Approach

My approach to therapy is collaborative, compassionate, and tailored to your individual needs. I believe that effective therapy begins with developing a safe and trusting therapeutic relationship, where you feel comfortable discussing your experiences openly and without judgment.

I use evidence-based therapies, including Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT) and Eye Movement Desensitisation and Reprocessing (EMDR), to help clients understand the factors contributing to their difficulties and develop practical strategies for change. Together, we will develop a shared understanding of your difficulties, identify meaningful goals, and create a personalised treatment plan that reflects your needs and circumstances.

I aim to provide a supportive and structured approach that helps you build resilience, develop confidence, and make lasting changes. My goal is to help you gain the understanding, skills, and tools needed to improve your well-being and move towards a more fulfilling life.
