About me

My name is Sarah Wilson and I work as a Private Psychotherapist and Counsellor in the Bradford and Leeds area. My sole mission is to relieve the emotional stress and suffering of my clients and to enhance their mental health and wellbeing. I offer a confidential, safe, discreet, comfortable and non-judgemental environment where, together, we can gain insights into your past, how this relates to the present and how it can affect the future. The past cannot be changed but how you let it affect your life can be. Whatever emotional distress you are going through will be respected and I will encourage you to speak openly and freely, so you can build trust in the therapeutic relationship. I'm a fully qualified and registered Psychotherapist strictly adhering to ethical frameworks and codes of practice.

Experience

Dip. Psychotherapy Cert. Counselling To maintain my registered membership, like many therapists, I also attend continuing professional development (CPD) courses each year, to ensure I am always up to date with theoretical, contextual and neuro-scientific developments. I also attend ongoing professional Supervision to discuss my caseload and ensure I continue to work in an ethical and safe way, by always putting the needs of my clients first. I have full public liability insurance and a clear enhanced DBS check. Along with working in my private practice I also volunteer as a counsellor for a local Bradford charity.

Specialisms

Counselling can be used to help with the following conditions: Depression Anxiety or Generalised Anxiety Disorder (GAD) Panic Attacks Phobias Stress Abuse - Sexual, physical, emotional and domestic Obsessive compulsive disorder (OCD) Post-traumatic stress disorder (PTSD) Long-term illnesses Eating disorders, such as anorexia and bulimia Addictions - such as drug, alcohol, sex and gambling Bereavement Relationship breakdowns Redundancy or work-related stress Sexual identity Issues preventing you from achieving your ambitions A better understanding of yourself in relation to your problems Understand yourself and your problems better Issues with confidence and low self-esteem Self-harm Gain a better understanding of other people's points of view Psychosomatic conditions

My Approach

I can offer time limited work to resolve very specific issues, or long term therapy. All sessions are usually at the same time on a regular (usually weekly) basis that is mutually convenient. Most people find that regular contact provides a sense of security and continuity whilst they are working through their emotional difficulties. I believe all people are individuals, with problems unique to them. My training in Psychotherapy is from an integrative framework which, I believe, offers the most effective form of therapy. This means I can draw upon multiple approaches - Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT), Person Centred Therapy and Psychodynamic Therapy and tailor my approach to best meet your needs.
