I had been interested in, and receiving Reflexology for many years, when my Reflexologist suggested I undertook the training. I was fascinated by the effect the treatments had on my body. Apart from anything else, I always felt relaxed during and following a treatment which helped to prepare me for a hectic lifestyle with a full time job and 2 children! I also felt my hormones benefited, and this kept me more balanced. I decided take my Therapist's advice and ‘go for it'! I am based just off the A34 in Cannock, Staffordshire.
Having completed the course in Anatomy and Physiology in 2006, I went on to become a qualified Reflexologist in 2007. Indian Head Massage was next in 2008, Bowen Technique in 2009, Eastern Facial Massage and Hopi Ear Candles in 2011. All of which are extremely relaxing treatments and can help you to cope with the fast and hectic pace of life. Many people have also found them very beneficial in terms of health issues. As a registered practitioner, I am required to undertake continuing professional development each year, to retain entry on the Register of Practitioners with the College of Bowen Studies (CBS), Bowen Therapies Professional Association (BTPA), Federation of Holistic Therapists (FHT) and Complementary and Natural Healthcare Council (CNHC).
Bowen Technique - is a remedial, hands-on therapy that is applied using very gentle pressure. The practitioner uses thumbs and fingers on precise points of the body to perform Bowen's unique sets of rolling-type moves which stimulate the muscles and soft tissue of the body. There is no manipulation or adjustment of hard tissue and no force is used. The experience of a treatment is gentle, subtle and relaxing. Clients have reported the experience of pain relief, improvement of function and recovery of energy, as well as an improved feeling of wellbeing. Reflexology - is a popular, relaxing holistic treatment and is a method of activating the healing powers of the body. Reflex points on the soles, tops and sides of the feet connect to corresponding areas throughout the body. The aim is to balance the body naturally and correct any imbalances. It is only necessary to remove shoes and socks for the treatment, during which feet will be cleansed and massaged using special techniques. Hopi Ear Candles - an ancient practice that has been used for centuries in many cultures throughout the world. They are hollow tubes made from unbleached cotton or linen and hardened with beeswax. This holistic treatment consists of the ear candles being inserted gently into the ear. As they burn down the candles work like a chimney, drawing out impurities and stimulating energy points and reflex zones.
Complementary therapies should not be used in place of conventional medical care. Always consult a GP or other health professional for medical attention and advice. However they can help in terms of relaxation. If you would like to 'relax, unwind and improve your wellbeing', contact me for an appointment.
