I am a fully qualified and insured Zen Shiatsu Practitioner and Registered Professional Member (MrSS) of The Shiatsu Society (SSUK) and Complementary & Natural Healthcare Council (CNHC). In addition to my private practice in Leeds, I am currently undertaking further professional development through Teacher Training at The London College of Shiatsu. Following relocation to Yorkshire, I am pleased to offer my private practice in Leeds, providing therapy room and home treatments alongside a corporate wellbeing service. This follows six years experience in London where I have enjoyed working with a broad range of clients within home treatments, clinical practice, office environments in London financial districts and at wellbeing events.
Core Shiatsu Training I studied Zen Shiatsu at the renowned London College of Shiatsu and completed a comprehensive three year Diploma course in 2020 under the tutelage of Nik Kyriacou and Veronica Howard. A deep interest in the practice, I have continued my association with the London College, currently undertaking the formal training to qualify as a Shiatsu Teacher which follows two years volunteering as a Teaching Assistant. I have additionally completed postgraduate training courses and workshops in other Shiatsu styles and related bodywork techniques, notably: Movement Shiatsu With David Ventura (Spain), Ruth Patrizzi (UK) and Bill Commerford (UK) - focused on exploring a different dynamic of interaction within condition-specific treatments and somatic trauma release. Advanced Seated Acupressure With internationally recognised TouchPro UK - Alistair Burcher (UK) and David Palmer (USA). This skillset enables me to provide the most effective treatment where a chair format is the suitable option.
Shiatsu is a form of therapeutic bodywork that originated in Japan. It involves the controlled use of pressure and release, joint rotations, stretching, and other manipulative techniques to relieve tension and pain. The careful application and combination of such techniques encourages a dual effect of relaxation and stimulation. This important balance helps to activate the immune system, assisting the body's innate self-healing mechanism and speeding up recovery from injuries and illness. Shiatsu is both an intuitive and practical system. It combines the Eastern medicine holistic view of the human body and mind, with the modern medicine understanding of anatomy and physiology. It is a natural and non-invasive way to support your health and well-being. Shiatsu has a deeply relaxing effect on the body, it calms the mind and may produce an overall feeling of vitality.
With a long standing personal interest in therapeutic practices from cultures around the world, my aim as a practitioner is to continue to deepen my knowledge around practical and philosophical approaches to Shiatsu and related bodywork. I welcome all individuals to experience the benefits of Shiatsu and am happy to help with any enquiries.
