Specialisms

Madeleine's new passion and interest is abdominal - visceral work. For both men and women as we age, our physiology becomes an increasingly important conversation. This is due to organs slumping or changing their relationship with one another due to lifestyle, work posture, traumatic injury, surgeries, as well as ligaments becoming more lax. Our organs and digestive system want to slide and glide, have a good blood supply and happy nerve innervation. When organs get squashed one on the other, these aspects get compromised causing a host of physiological problems. And due to internal nerve or blood vessel tethering - other structures - like shoulders, the neck, hips or the legs - get unexplained problems.

Also belly work can be an incredible help for chronic anxiety. It meets old stored nervous tension that has built up over a lifetime, and helps it unpeg and resolve. This in a profound way helps lessen stress perceived unconsciously in the brain which is the cause of chronic anxiety. See mztherapy.com for greater details.

Her other long term passion however is moving well. Through her experience with rolfing/ fascial work - she regained a better posture and resolved a long term hip problem, and opened up her chest so she could breathe better. Rolfing is tough because it is strong work, but as soon as you get off the couch you know things have changed, and you learn a lot about yourself. It changes patterns that no amount of stretching ever will.

This combined with yoga is a winning combination. Yoga saved Madeleine and got her physically, emotionally and energetically in line. 'You learn how to balance and move the different segments of your body correctly and congruently; breathe better - slower and deeper which helps to balance and recalibrate your nervous system; and the unseen benefit is how it squeezes blood through your digestive system improving your physiological well being.

This is holistic health.'

My Approach

It is always best to have a chat on the phone and discuss the issues you are feeling. These could be unresolved pain sensations that the doctors are just prescribing pain killers for; it could be chronic anxiety; or it could be movement or stiffness issues, or a goal to get back to a more active life and re-own your body.

Madeleine can then suggest what the best strategy and treatment approach would be. An initial session is always important for the client to decide if this approach suits them, and whether this is a suitable therapist for them.

Madeleine offers treatments in central Bath and from her home studio in Stanton Prior. Please see her website for more details.

"As a professional singer the health of my back is essential for my ability to perform and teach. I have a scoliosis (which Madeleine spotted immediately ), and many imbalances. She treated me with the 10 stage Rolfing practise and with deep tissue massage. I can only say that the difference was revolutionary! It's as if metal that had been grinding surface to surface has at last been bathed in oil. Madeleine is very knowledgable, intuitive, caring and fun!"

"I've tried many therapies over the years, but MZ Therapy genuinely transformed my relationship to my body. After months of dull, nagging aches in my shoulders, low back, and hips that I'd written off as "just aging," I booked a Rolf Structural Integration session. What followed over the next weeks was like peeling back layers of tension I didn't even know I had. Madeleine doesn't just provide treatment—she brings deep understanding and presence to every session. Her work through the Rolf Method feels both precise and intuitive, helping the body find its natural balance again. The changes have been lasting: I move with more ease, my posture feels open, and I have a renewed sense of connection between how I stand, breathe, and move. I'm genuinely grateful for the care and skill she brings to her practice. If you've been carrying long-standing tension or feel out of alignment, I can't recommend Rolf Structural Integration with MZ Therapy enough—it's been a truly meaningful experience. Thanks, Madeleine."
