Massage and sleep for health and wellbeing

Posted by Ruth Eagin Over 1 Year Ago

A good night's sleep is vital for our health and wellbeing. When we sleep our body repairs its cells and also repairs any damage caused by stress. If we can get between 7 and 9 hours of sleep each night, our levels of serotonin are balanced. Serotonin affects our mood and so we can be happier and combat depression with adequate sleep. With restful sleep our minds can rest and regain focus. Sleep boosts our memory and helps us feel energised and able to function.

A lack of sleep affects the hormones which are responsible for regulating our appetite and so if we don't get sufficient sleep, we are more likely to gain weight and also have higher cholesterol levels and high blood pressure. By getting a good night's sleep we can break the circle of stress and its effects on our body.

Treatments such as massage to the head and face or an Indian Head Massage can be very helpful in calming down the body and mind and can help promote better sleep.  A regular massage or Healing therapy can be a great way to gain deeper relaxation and therefore help people who struggle with getting adequate sleep.
