Bowen Technique Practitioner in Thatcham

I am Lee Avery and when I was 38 took up running and became addicted to it (which knowing what I know now) meant that I over-trained and ran very inefficiently which led to many injuries. I competed for Shaftesbury Barnet Harriers over many distances starting off with half-marathons, progressing to marathons and then track and then found I simply loved 200metres! It was being part of this team that led me to running (without any of my team mates or coaches knowing) through injuries rather than resting and I paid the price! I was at the time a financial controller which was very stressful and I disliked working in an office, so subsequently when I became injured I was very depressed. I tried many different therapies and none of them had any impact, I might be able to get off the couch and run the next day but sure enough they came back. A particular clinic I trusted passed me from one therapist to another and the physio there gave me a Bowen treatment.
Truthfully I was surprised that a treatment so gentle could work and was amazed when after a few sessions my injuries not only started going but weren't coming back. Life can have its ups and downs and in 2007 I suffered from chronic fatigue syndrome. I went back to see my Bowen therapist and with her help, I recovered. During this period I decided it was time to change my life and I wanted to be able to help other people so I started up my personal training and run coaching business and trained for BowenTherapy with what was then the "European College of Bowen" now "CBS". I qualified in 2010 and have never looked back. I absolutely love it. The results Bowen achieves from such a gentle, lovely therapy are outstanding. It doesn't matter whether you are a day old or 100+ Bowen works! It's not like going to work, it's a pleasure and every day I learn something new. The courses I have been on and the people I meet are fascinating. Whether I am treating a hamstring injury, sciatica, anxiety, grief, or back pain Bowen, (simply put) helps.
I am a great believer in continued learning and have been on many different courses, back in 2015 I was recommended to attend the "Body Mind Workers" course. I have spent the last couple of years studying this and am about to qualify as a level 2 practitioner. This works with the sub-conscious mind and used either with Bowen or as a stand-alone treatment brings results to another level.

Approach to Therapy & How I Work

A detailed consultation takes place which includes lifestyle, work, hobbies to ensure that I am getting a full picture of you as an individual person. This is important as I aim to not only help the problem but ensure that it does not re-occur. It is all very well having a number of sessions and feeling better but if you are still repeating the movements that caused the problem in the first place it will come back. I therefore draw on my personal training knowledge to give exercises and movement patterns to help keep you in the best possible state of well-being. Equally if I feel that there are other issues I will always gladly refer a client on to another therapist. After the consultation, and I have answered any questions, I will carry out a treatment. If it is a long term issue it is normally recommended to have a course of three treatments but if it has just happened such as a twisted ankle, one treatment will normally suffice.
