Naturopath in London

My approach can be useful for anyone whether they have debilitating illness, are feeling a bit under par, need help coping with stress or just want to get back on track. I use the most advanced Asyra bioenergetic equipment to carry out a series of tests and provide nutritional information on the best foods that will suit your body as well as formulate individual herbal preparations for each client.

I have also made a considerable investment in the Asyra equipment so that I can also treat at an energetic level (homeopathic) as well as find out more of what is affecting the body. My approach is to look at imbalances in the whole body as well as targeting any specific illness or symptoms. With herbs, I use aspects of Chinese herbalism (TCM) as well as Western herbal practice. This means that I can combine the evidence-based and traditional Western approaches with the more energetic Eastern approaches which gives the best of both worlds.

Herbal Medicine

Herbal medicine is the oldest and most widespread medicine in the world and has stood the test of time. Herbalists are the only practitioners apart from doctors who are allowed to prescribe internal medicine. There are some herbs which we know have been used effectively for particular conditions for over 2000 years and modern science and herbal practice is always finding new uses for medicinal plants.

Herbal practitioners today has the benefit of the wealth of experience of our predecessors as well as evidence from huge amounts of scientific and medical research. We also have access to herbs from all over the world and to knowledge from other herbal traditions - particularly from the Chinese and Indian Ayurvedic systems. Herbal Medicine uses roots, leaves, bark and flowers of whole plants. These plants contain active constituents that balance the organs as well as many supportive nutrients such as vitamins, minerals, enzymes and trace elements which are an essential and synergistic part of the treatment.

Though gentle on the body, their actions can still be powerful, but with very few side effects. Almost half of pharmaceutical drugs currently being produced were derived through plants. However chemical compounds from the plants are then used in isolation and often synthesised. Without the gentle and moderating effects of the supportive nutrients mentioned above, these drugs can be harsh on the body with many side effects. Herbalists aim to support the whole person and the root imbalance, not just the symptoms.

Naturopathy uses the healing power of nature to promote your body’s self-healing mechanism. It is a practice of preventing, assessing and treating conditions of the human body and mind. By integrating a range of natural therapies and traditional medicines, naturopathy treats your physical, mental and emotional states for a lasting effect.

A Naturopath is trained to employ safe and effective natural therapies that will support and stimulate the healing power of nature in the least invasive and most efficient manner possible. Naturopaths use a range of methods to assist in the healing process which may include herbal medicine, nutrition – diet and lifestyle recommendations, vitamins and minerals, homeopathy, bio-energetic treatment and pulse and tongue analysis. A Naturopath aims to educate, empower and motivate the patient to gain more control on his or her health. They do not simply treat the manifestation of a disease and its effects but rather search for the cause and treat it, rather than just the effect. So with this, you gain a different perspective on your health as well as advice, support and treatments for better health.

Background & Qualifications

I have been practicing since 2003 after qualifying as a medical herbalist and naturopath at the College of Naturopathic Medicine in London. I am passionate about the power of herbs together with a person's own healing powers to support health. That is why I have chosen to practice herbal medicine and naturopathy.

I am Vice President of the Unified Register of Herbal Medicines and sit on the board for the European Herbal and Traditional Practitioners Association.

My Specialisms

I deal with a wide variety of health conditions. Many people who come to me have skin conditions, digestive disorders, immune issues, hormonal imbalances, and cardiovascular problems.

Approach to Therapy & How I Work

I try to be as natural as possible in my treatment, so will almost always use herbs and try wherever possible to work with food nutrition and enhancing absorption of nutrition as opposed to using too many nutritional supplements. I find the combination of Herbal Medicine, Nutrition and Bio-energetics works well for most people.
