Alexander Technique Practitioner in Bath

To find peace of mind it's necessary to address all levels: body, mind and emotions. In the supportive environment of our counselling sessions you'll learn skills to manage things like negative circular thinking patterns; loss of confidence; performance anxiety and painful, stress induced tension.

Psychologist, Viktor Frankl said "Between stimulus and response is a space. In that space is the power to choose our response. In our response lies our growth and freedom".

When I was 18 my parents were killed in a car accident. In a moment my life changed forever and the effects of that event rippled out into my life. All of us will experience life-changing events, which influence us deeply and navigating them is the art of living that Viktor Frankl refers to.

One of the really good things that came out of my experience was having counselling and learning the ability to respond to the inevitable ebb and flow of life with more acceptance and skill.
So, learn how to turn adversity and difficulty into happiness and ease. There is no shame in seeking counselling and sometimes even the best of us need help to navigate this process!

Background & Alexander Technique Qualifications

I have been practicing as a therapist for over 30 years and work with individuals, couples and groups. I have an Advanced diploma (MA equivalent, they didn't have MA for therapy back in those days!) in Psychosynthesis Psychotherapy and I'm registered with the UKCP, one of the main authorising bodies for psychotherapy in the UK.

EMDR - more recently I qualified as an EMDR therapist. This method has a huge amount of research behind it and has dramatic results helping people overcome trauma and phobias of various kinds. In Norway there is an EMDR clinic working closely with the health service, bringing medicine and mind together. Hopefully the UK will soon be following suit.

Teacher of Alexander Technique - My first training on leaving school was to train as an Alexander teacher. I'm currently the head of training at the Bristol Alexander School where people train to become teachers of the Alexander Technique. I am a member of Alexander Technique International (ATI) and abide by their code of Ethics.

My Specialisms

Because of my training in therapy and Alexander Technique I have a wholistic approach to my work. Working with body, emotions and mind - Whatever the issue is that draws you to seek counselling at this time you can be sure it's affecting the whole of you: body, mind and emotions. The way we balance these elements of our being deeply affects our relationships, work performance, health and well-being.

Reasons people seek counselling: Bereavement; stress and anxiety; panic attacks; depression; relationship problems; life crisis; lack of self esteem to name but a few.

EMDR therapy - working with phobia's, stress, post traumatic stress disorder and much more.
