My Specialisms

I have helped clients from a variety of backgrounds, with a range of difficulties including but not limited to; stress and anxiety, depression, feeling sad, relationship issues, family conflicts, low self esteem / confidence, loneliness, bereavement and coping with grief and loss. I also work with clients who have experienced trauma, including sexual abuse or who are experiencing sexual issues which impact upon their relationship.

Approach to Cognitive Behavioural Therapy & How I Work

I offer person centred counselling and I believe that you are the expert of your story, you know how you feel and you know what hurts. I believe that you have many strengths that will assist you in overcoming the obstacles that challenge you and accessing therapy can help you to discover your strengths when you struggle to see them yourself.

I am able to offer you the time and space to explore your thoughts and feelings in a confidential, non-judgemental environment and to help you to find a way forward. You may find I focus more so upon your feelings than your thoughts as this is my main way of working. Sometimes we experience feeling ‘stuck' when our emotions can feel overwhelming and we do not allow ourselves the time to process them.

I adapt therapy to meet your individual needs and I am able to incorporate other therapies, such as CBT, if you would prefer a more structured approach to therapy.

My main aim is to help you gain the most from each session, by working to build a trusting therapeutic relationship, that can help you to focus upon and overcome your difficulties. I am able to provide you with the opportunity to speak freely, to gain clarity on your thoughts and feelings, to discover new ways of coping and explore different perspectives that can lead to a more positive outcome.

Taking the first step to access therapy can be a daunting experience, if you have any questions about therapy please do not hesitate to contact me. I aim to respond to e-mails within 24 hours.

I look forward to hearing from you and helping you on your journey.
