Ceri Schofield
Counsellor in Cheltenham

Feeling overwhelmed, stressed, or unsure where to start? That's completely normal, you don't need to have all the answers before reaching out.

I'm Ceri Schofield, an experienced counsellor working with adults. I provide a safe, supportive, and confidential space to explore challenges such as stress, anxiety, depression, relationship difficulties, work-related pressures, and life transitions—whether they feel clear or confusing, recent or rooted in the past.

Together, we can pause, reflect, and begin making sense of things in a way that feels manageable and meaningful.

Background & Counselling Qualifications

I'm an experienced psychodynamic counsellor offering both open-ended and short-term counselling for adults. Sessions are available online or in person from a private, calming room in the centre of Cheltenham. Alongside my private practice, I continue to volunteer as a counsellor with Gloucestershire Counselling Service, where I trained, working with adults from diverse backgrounds.

Qualifications
PG. Diploma in Psychodynamic Counselling (British Psychoanalytic Council accredited training)
Certificate in Counselling Skills
Time Limited Training - through a psychodynamic approach
Member of British Association of Counsellors and Psychotherapists (BACP)
Ongoing CPD (Continual Professional Development)

My Specialisms

I have experience supporting clients with a wide range of challenges, including stress, anxiety, depression, low self-esteem, trauma, anger, and difficulties in relationships or at work. I offer a reflective, compassionate space where you can explore whatever is troubling you at your own pace.

Psychodynamic counselling is based on the idea that our early experiences and relationships shape how we think, feel, and relate to others today. Together, we can gently explore recurring patterns, the roots of strong emotions or behaviours, and the unconscious beliefs that may be keeping you stuck.

This isn't about quick fixes — it's about gaining deeper understanding and self-awareness, so that over time you can feel freer, more at ease, and more able to live in ways that feel authentic and manageable.

Approach to Counselling & How I Work

I offer regular weekly sessions on either an open-ended or time-limited basis, depending on what feels right for you. We will work at your pace, and I regularly review progress with you so we can reflect on how the work feels and what may be emerging.

If you'd like to get in touch, we can arrange an initial consultation to discuss what brings you to counselling and what you hope to gain. It's also a chance for you to get a feel for how I work and whether it feels like the right fit. The fee for this session is £55.
