Approach to Counselling & How I Work

How I work:

I am a person-centred counsellor. This means that I believe that you have everything in you to live a happy and fulfilling life, sometimes it's just hard to access. My way of working is client lead, this means I will not sit as the expert in our sessions and tell you how to live your life, rather, I aim to understand and empathise with your experiences and empower you to find a way forward to a more fulfilling life. I will walk alongside you on your therapeutic journey, building trust and a safe space from which to explore your feelings.

My approach:

I believe the therapeutic relationship is central to effective counselling. As such I provide a safe, non-judgemental environment from which you can explore your thoughts and feelings in depth. I aim to walk alongside you with empathy and care as we explore what matters most to you. It is my aim to help you feel comfortable to bring all parts of yourself to the therapy room, safe in the knowledge that you will not only be accepted but embraced.

Depending on what works best for you, I can offer either traditional talking therapy or more creative techniques that can sometimes be helpful to unlock the subconscious feelings that can be difficult to reach. With all clients, I will follow your lead and offer interventions that suit you.
