Emma  Delaney
Counsellor in Cwmbran

I am a Pluralistic therapist, which means I work according to a school of therapy that is designed to allow therapists and clients to work together to find the best way of addressing clients' concerns, using ideas and methods from various therapeutic theories, literature and the client's life experience.

The basic principle of pluralistic therapy is that different people are helped by different processes at different times, and the best way of deciding on how therapy should proceed is to engage the client in a process of shared decision-making.

I am based in the Torfaen area of South Wales. I am a member of the BACP (British Association of Counselling and Psychotherapy). I am also registered with the ICO (Information Commissioners Office) so you can be assured your personal data is gathered and stored securely.

I maintain my professional practice by seeking out CPD (Continual Professional Development) as recommended by the BACP, and I have a full enhanced DBS check (Disclosure and Barring Service). I also engage in regular supervision meetings to ensure I practice within the BACP ethical guidelines.

I aim to work collaboratively with clients to find the best approach. There is no right or wrong, just teamwork. I work with adults and adolescents in a sensitive, genuine and non-judgemental way. Working pluralistically, I am able to offer many different therapeutic modalities, including Person-Centred, Cognitive Behavioural Therapy, Solution Focused Therapy, Strength Based Therapy, Trauma, Bereavement Counselling, Mindfulness and Life Coaching to name but a few.

I can offer you a safe space to explore your thoughts, worries, and problems from the past, present or future. I provide a warm, empathetic, autonomous and personable therapeutic experience. I understand that every individual has a unique set of values, beliefs and circumstances surrounding their everyday lives. Therefore, I approach things holistically to encompass the intricate web that makes up a person's life.

My speciality is person-centred which is a client led approach. I go where you take me unless we agree otherwise. This is the beauty of Pluralistic Counselling, it can be whatever you want it to be, and I am happy to ride the counselling wave with you.

Session Info & Fees Every client has a preference when it comes to sessions. Some prefer a face to face session and some prefer an online or telephone session. All sessions are 1 hour long. Please, take your time to consider which one suits you. Full terms & conditions plus any accompanying pre-session documents will be sent for your reading and consideration prior to any session taking place. Please note: I practice during term time only. I aim to give as much notice as possible to clients if there are any pending school calendar holidays coming up that may affect sessions. £40 - Client Assessment (price applies to online assessment and face to face assessment) This service allows both the client and counsellor the opportunity to explore what you want from therapy, discuss presenting issues and navigate which style of counselling may suit you. £45 - Telephone Similar to online as it allows the client to monitor their own changes in their own environment. It offers visual anonymity, comfort and convenience. £50 - Online This allows people seeking therapy to monitor changes in their own environment. Online counselling can offer greater comfort and convenience. £55 - Face to face A face to face counselling session draws on all the senses, allowing for the full potential of non-verbal communication between two people, and the interaction with space and objects in the counselling room. This type of session often has the benefits of a deeper sense of understanding and connection.
