Maddy Coates Counselling

Maddy Coates
Counsellor in Guildford

My therapeutic approach is grounded in years of experience in organisational
change, combined with training at Relate and work supporting counsellors at
Childline through mentoring and live-contact guidance.

Supporting couples and individuals to work through their thoughts and feelings and find a way forward for the future that they want.

Background & Counselling Qualifications

With an MSc in Management Science, a BA (Hons) in Economics, a CPCAB
Diploma in Relational Counselling and membership of the BACP, I provide
counselling for individuals and couples seeking meaningful change in their personal,
relational or professional lives.

My Specialisms

Supports clients with challenges such as:

? Negative thinking and emotional reactivity
? Relationship communication difficulties
? Conflict resolution
? Parenting concerns
? Motivation, decision-making and life transitions
? Betrayal, affairs, addictions and trust injuries
? Separation, divorce and co-parenting support

Many clients come to me because similar issues keep appearing across different
areas of life such as relationships, work, family, friendships or parenting. Through
our work together, you can learn to recognise underlying beliefs and behaviours
and create lasting, intentional change.

Approach to Counselling & How I Work

Working integratively, drawing on psychodynamic, systemic, transactional,
behavioural and person-centred approaches, together we explore your story,
understand recurring patterns, and uncover the early experiences that may be
shaping your current relationships, reactions and decision-making. My focus is on
helping you develop conscious choice, emotional clarity and new ways of relating.

Couples who feel they may have "left it too late" are supported with a safe, honest
space to explore reconciliation or separation. I also help individuals and couples
navigate betrayal, and guide separating partners through emotional, practical and
relational complexities to create the healthiest foundation possible, including
effective co-parenting where relevant.
