Megan Andrews
Counsellor in Liskeard

Hello Im Megan

As a counsellor and psychotherapist I am here to support you if you let me in.

I provide a non-judgemental environment when working face-to-face or online.

Ive not always been a therapist. Before I used to work in the high profiled music and broadcasting industry after experiencing a lot of trauma there was a period of my life which left mental health issues which at first chose to ignore as doing this enabled me to still function in everyday life and responsibilities. But over time it got more and more difficult, leading to a hospitalisation due to a full mental health breakdown which took a long time to recover from. During this time I decided I wanted to support others through emotional declines or instability and enable them to not make the same mistakes as me in ignoring their own emotional and psychological well-being. I then spent many years retraining in order to change my career.

Approach to Counselling & How I Work

As a psychotherapeutic therapist I work in a holistic way looking at your past, present and future. .

In the main I work with the relational, psycho-spiritual and psychodynamic Connections Model . Which explores interrelationships to the four aspects of self (mind, emotion, body and soul). the relationship being central to theory. Connection to the four aspects creates harmonious balance in health and well-being but, disconnection leaves a fragmented loss of self leading to possible mental health issues. The Connections model then forms my choice, integrating different theory and techniques of The Person-Centred Approach (PCA), Gestalt, CBT and Transpersonal, which enables me to individually tailor treatment as we are all unique - (likewise any difficulties we encounter).

Counselling looks to target certain areas that are holding you back and often is a short focused piece of work unlike psychotherapy. This way of working is more in-depth and can take longer as it concentrates on difficult feelings or ingrained negative patterns of thoughts or behaviours. By looking at an individuals past, present and future as a team we join together on a path towards self-discovery, fulfilment and empowerment. You no longer have to be alone in this.
