In a world that tells us more and more who we should be, how we should look and what we should wear (to be cool and fit in) to show up as our authentic self is one of the most courageous choices we can make.

Would you like to live a more authentic life? Or find the courage to dare more in love and life?

In my coaching practice I ask 3 powerful questions:

1. Who are you?
2. How you would like to show up in the world?
3. What gets in the way of you being who you are or how you would like to show up in the world?
(4. There is a 4th element which is about developing the resilience to get back up when you fall when you are being brave?)

My training with Dr Mark Atkinson in Human Potential Coaching (reconnecting to our True Self) and with Dr Brené Brown in shame resilience (what are the messages and expectations that prevent us from being our authentic self) gives me a unique perspective in how to work with what arises with more clarity, courage, compassion and confidence.

Approach to Therapy & How I Work

I ask 3 powerful questions in my coaching:

1. Who are you?
A simple question? Or much more complex and the key to understanding why we are where we are? This is a fascinating process of bringing absolute clarity to what is important to you (and why), what you hold to be true, what you are passionate about, what holds your interest and what strengths and talents you have.

2. How do you want to show up in the world?
Having discovered the above we then look at the areas of your life where you would like to find more courage and make braver choices ~ this is most often not about big declarations of courage but more the smaller, day to day moments like having a difficult conversation, saying no or creating boundaries, taking a course which involves creativity, learning something new or saying goodbye to something that you need to let go of. Every movement from a place of comfort to discomfort involves an act of courage.

3. What is getting in the way of you showing up in the world in the way you would like to?
Here we connect to fears, beliefs, messages, expectations and patterns of behaviour that prevent you from achieving your greatest potential.

Brené Brown says that "You cannot change what you don't understand"

Here we start to understand with what stops you and how to move through this with courage, resilience and compassion.

"Jonathan's coaching sessions helped me to truly connect with myself and gave me the courage to pursue my creative passions. Although creative expression was my true heart's desire I lacked the courage to go forward and the self-belief in my skills and gifts. Jonathan helped me to gently examine and embrace those fears while taking small steps toward making desired changes. A year on and those steps are getting bigger and bigger and these days if fear comes up I'm equipped with tools to acknowledge it and work with it, which I find incredibly empowering.

Jonathan's ability to truly listen and reflect on what he heard is unique, as is the fun and creative way in which he meets whatever is coming up in the moment during the session. I felt very safe to share and open up in the space that he created and the insights from the sessions stayed with me and allowed for the spontaneous unfolding of changes.

I recommend Jonathan as a coach with all my heart.
