Lucy Dunleavy
Massage Therapist in Brighton

I am a craniosacral therapist, which is a very gentle yet potent hands-on therapy.
It can be very helpful in releasing tensions deep within the body, which can often affect whole body health and performance. Often these restrictions, absorbed on a daily basis, become so embedded we become unconscious of them. Yet we keep getting repetitive aches, pain and discomfort and unease physically, emotionally and in our general well-being. These deep held restrictions may be causing wider health problems, sleep problems, anxiety. My treatment room is situated in my home in central Brighton, East Sussex.
I am a certified Craniosacral Therapist from the Upledger Institute and a member of the Craniosacral Society.

CST can help with a wide range of problems of pain, discomfort and dysfunction:

Do you have stress, anxiety problems and perhaps insomnia?

Perhaps you grind your teeth, have face and jaw pain, problems with your TMJ? Did you ever wear a brace?

Have you any post-surgery restrictions?

Do you have any hormonal problems?

Does chronic fatigue, fibromyalgia or post-COVID problems affect you?

Do you have respiratory issues or digestive problems? Asthma, emphysema, IBS?

Neck pain, back pain, headaches and migraines?

Approach to Massage Therapy & How I Work

An initial chat is the first thing I do, to establish someone's needs. Once we have done this, we can begin a treatment session.
The client is fully clothed and comfortable, usually lying down on the treatment couch.

The treatment will last about 50 minutes. Each treatment is highly individual, the therapist is guided by what the client's body is showing on that particular day. The lighter touch of this kind of treatment is deeply relaxing which allows the body to change and release, self-correct and move towards a more effective, healthy and comfortable way of being.

The therapist will assess the client's body for where there may be some restrictions. These are then encouraged to release by using some very gentle but precise and effective techniques. The therapist will assess the whole body and treat where is needed. The name of this therapy refers to the whole central nervous system, cranio meaning head, sacral meaning pelvis. The treatment will often entail working on the whole body.
