Nina Smith
Mindfulness Practitioner in Bath

I offer a supportive, sensitive, nurturing environment in which you can examine what is holding you back. We will look at strategies to help move you forward. To do this, I practice Integrative Counselling - drawing on many schools, depending on your needs and what you feel comfortable with, always being led by you. We will never try a therapy that doesn't 'sit' well with you.

Background & Mindfulness Qualifications

Dip Gen Nurse, B Soc Sci, (Hons) B&A, HDip Counselling, MATCP (Masters in Therapeutic Counselling and Psychotherapy), Diploma in Supervision.

I have had careers in Nursing and Management Consulting, working across many strata and with different kinds of people in many countries. I chose to train as a counsellor after having had successful and groundbreaking counselling that gave me insight into my life and my choices. I love working with people across all walks of life and being able to negotiate tricky transitions, life choices or areas of being stuck with you.

I am a member of the British Association of Counselling & Psychotherapy (BACP) and of the Association of Christian Counsellors (ACC). This means that I am regulated by an outside body, have regular supervision, agree to a Code of Conduct, am insured to practice and have regular training and update of my practice.

My Specialisms

I have worked on issues ranging from Grief and Loss, Relationship Difficulties, Depression, Anxiety, Substance Abuse Rehabilitation, Self Harm, Disability, Long-term illness, Life Transitions, Trauma resulting from childhood or sexual abuse & Personality disorders.

Approach to Mindfulness & How I Work

I am trained to use Person-Centered Therapy, Psychodynamic Therapy and Cognitive Behavioural Therapy, as well as Mindfulness and creative therapies. I will firstly get to know you and understand your story. Thereafter I will offer the approach or combination of approaches that I feel might suit you. At all times, this will be in collaboration with you and what you feel comfortable with. We do frequent reviews, to ensure that you feel the counselling is being helpful and adjust course if necessary. Towards the end of your counselling, we might reduce the weekly visits until you feel confident managing again on your own.
