Christopher Vincent
Psychotherapist in Leatherhead

I specialise in working with couples and can offer support for strengthening the self in relationship, working on difficulties in relationships, working on the after effects of an affair, helping separated parents think about how to put their children first while managing their own relationship issues.

I work with individuals to support them with their developmental and relational growth. I have trained to offer interventions to clients suffering with OCD, anxiety and eating difficulties.

I offer a free, 20 minute introductory consultation to help you decide whether I am someone you feel able to work with

I offer supervision for professionals from a wide range of modalities, although my own discipline is Systemic.. I currently supervise Local Authority Housing Management & Homeless Options Teams, and professionally qualified therapists.
I also deliver workshops on a range of subjects, most recently on Reflective Listening for a local sensory services charity. I incorporate developments in neuroscience which is increasing our understanding of how we function in relationships.

Background & Psychotherapy Qualifications

My background has been in Children and Families work, beginning in 1977. Over the course of my career I have worked with children and their parents across the age range (birth to 18 years) in children's homes, family centres, specialist social work teams, front line social work teams, and Sure Start programmes. I have worked with adults throughout the course of my career but more specifically in the past 20 years. I trained as a social worker in 1986 and retrained as a Systemic Psychotherapist in 1996, following on with the training as a Teacher, Trainer and Supervisor of Systemic Psychotherapists which I completed in 2001. I am now an Advanced Imago Couples Relationship therapist, having completed the original training in 2013.

I am a member of, and registered Systemic Supervisor with the Association of Family Therapy (AFT) and registered Systemic & Family Psychotherapist with the United Kingdom Council for Psychotherapy (UKCP)

I have professional insurance for all private work I do.

My Specialisms

Although I have specialised in working with couple relationships I continue to work with individuals and am available for supervision of therapists and others using a systemic approach.

Approach to Psychotherapy & How I Work

I am interested in helping people learn about their own emotional worlds, developing the skills to manage hard to approach subjects that arise for them in their relationships. I help to re-educate people to learn how be heard in the way they want to be, and how to listen accurately and hear in the way significant others want you to hear. Through this learning people have the opportunity to grow in their development, and in their relationships, developing richer experiences and safer emotional closeness.
