Matthew Eaves
Psychotherapist in Lincoln

Hello, I'm Matthew.

I understand that sometimes life's challenges can become overwhelming, and it's natural to want to escape from or fix them. I've experienced that struggle, and it was the transformative power of the counselling I received that led me to become a therapist. It's my role to help you navigate your own way through difficulties, and find ways of approaching them that work for you, no matter how daunting they may seem.

My specialization lies in helping you explore and understand your place in the world, your self-perception, your relationships, and your circumstances. Together, we can explore the changes you may want to make.

With extensive experience working with diverse emotional and practical issues, I don't believe in labelling or categorising people. I value the uniqueness of each client and their individual perspectives.

I provide a respectful and supportive relationship to help you navigate through your challenges. I'll always treat you respectfully and as a person, not as a problem to solve or a puzzle to unravel.

My Specialisms

My specialities do not revolve around particular labels or diagnosis, like depression or anxiety. That's because everyone's experience of difficulties is uniquely their own. As an existential therapist, my stock in trade is building authentic, trusting relationships and working with you from within that relationship to explore what is troubling you in the context of your life and aid you in finding your own ways of making sense of things, finding new perspectives, and possibilities for change.

Approach to Psychotherapy & How I Work

I am a Relational Existential-Phenomenological Therapist; that's a long, complicated name for something that's actually quite simple. I work collaboratively, in dialogue with you. We talk and examine your issues in detail and from different perspectives. We put them into the context of your life and your relationships to people, things, places, and yourself and look for insights that will bring you clarity and decide ways forward for yourself. I offer 60 minute sessions, bookable on demand (availability permitting), provided over the phone or Zoom.
