I have been working in private practice as a Counsellor & Psychotherapist for many years. I have a L7 Advanced Diploma in Integrative Psychotherapy (UKCP) and L4 Diploma in Integrative Counselling. I am a reg. MBACP.
I tailor my approach for each client, drawing on Person Centred, Transactional Analysis, Gestalt and CBT modalities.
I work with issues relating to: low mood, depression, relationship difficulties, anxiety, grief, procrastination, lack of direction, hopelessness, loneliness, people-pleasing, communication, attachment, trauma and loss
In our sessions, we'll explore what you want to change and find the tools to help you feel happier within yourself, your relationships, and your daily life. We might look at patterns in how you relate to others, how you think and feel about yourself, and any areas where you feel stuck. We can explore your past to understand how it may still be affecting you today. For instance, decisions made in childhood about who you are might need rethinking to fit with the person you really are now. I understand it can feel overwhelming, but our sessions will be a safe place to work through it together.
Life can be challenging for all of us, especially during major changes, whether it's the loss of a loved one, a relationship breakdown, feeling unfulfilled at work, or repeating the same unhelpful patterns of thinking and behaviour.
Often, we don't even realise how unhappy we've become. We might feel low or angry, sleep too much or too little, drink more than usual, or find ourselves eating too much or barely at all. Sometimes we pull away from friends or stop doing things we used to enjoy. These patterns can make life feel harder than it needs to be. Talking to a qualified therapist is a positive step towards understanding these behaviours and starting to make the changes you need to feel better and more in control of your life.
Before your first session, I offer a free initial telephone consultation. This gives us both a chance to see if we're a good fit for working together and to answer any initial questions you may have. After this, I'll send you an assessment form to complete before our first session.
The assessment helps us begin our work safely and effectively. It includes basic information, such as your contact details and your GP surgery, as well as questions about what you're currently struggling with. The goal is to gather some background information and better understand what's going on for you. It also gives you time to reflect on what you'd like to focus on in therapy.
You can complete as much of the form as you feel comfortable with, and we can go over any parts you're unsure of during our sessions. I ask that you return the form before our first session so we can make the most of our time from the very start, allowing us to focus on the areas you want to talk about right away.
