My background has been in Children and Families work, beginning in 1977. Over the course of my career I have worked with children and their parents across the age range (birth to 18 years) in children's homes, family centres, specialist social work teams, front line teams, and Sure Start programmes. I trained as a social worker in 1986 and retrained as a Systemic Psychotherapist in 1996, following on with the training as a Teacher, Trainer and Supervisor of Systemic Psychotherapists which I completed in 2001. I am currently training as a couples therapist in the Imago approach.
I am a member of the Association of Family Therapy (AFT) and registered as a Systemic Psychotherapist and Supervisor with the United Kingdom Council for Psychotherapy (UKCP)
I have professional insurance for all private work I do.
At present I am completing my certification as an Imago Couples Relationship Therapist. I continue to work with families, individuals and am available for supervision of therapists using a systemic approach.
I am interested in helping people learn about their own emotional worlds, developing the skills to manage hard to approach subjects that arise for them in their relationships. I help to re-educate people to learn how be heard in the way they want to be, and how to listen accurately and hear in the way the sender wants you to hear. Through this learning people are able to grow in their relationships, developing richer experiences and safer emotional closeness.
