Stand Strong―Taurus Full Moon―October 31st

Posted by Ingrid Hoffman Over 1 Year Ago

Moonlight drowns out all but the brightest stars - J.R.R. Tolkien.

Tonight’s Samhain Moon stands strong in the steady, stable sign of Taurus, but she’s twitchy as she brushes up against disruptive Uranus. We may have felt the energy of this lunation already in our lives this week. Uranus, like the Tower card in the Tarot, represents a toppling of a structure, a breakdown― breakthrough― that shatters and shocks us into a new realisation― that releases a renewing surge of energy that surges through our nervous system, upends our peace and calm and stablity. The powerful earthquake that shuddered the western coast of Turkey and parts of Greece is Uranus in action, as is geopolitical stress, monetary instability and our collective reckoning as the ongoing environmental crisis can't be ignored.

Emotions could be explosive, feelings intense as we’re jolted by circumstances that startle us enough to alter our course this weekend.
The Moon/Uranus energy reflects the collective disturbance that so many feel now as the pandemic surges through some countries in the world; as the Old Order struggles to hold on, as Nature responds to the ancient rhythm of Life and Death.

This is the second Full Moon this month. An edgy “Blue Moon” that may galvanise our inner Raging Bull as she conjoins erratic Uranus. This is a time of taking a stand. For rising strong. For so many, this may feel like a Stand-off, or a Last Stand―desperate measures, of power over, instead of working together, of fear and violence―or a time when we soften our hearts and see human face of our opponent. When we work together. When we practice Ashima―refrain from violence in thought word and deed.

This is the night of Halloween. The ancient festival of Samhain. A liminal time, halfway between the autumn equinox and the winter solstice. A time when the veil between the worlds shimmers, gossamer thin, in the cooling air. Juxtaposed with rows of golden pumpkins and the rich aroma of roasting chestnuts, a ghastly parade of ghoulish costumes sends a frisson of recognition―winter is coming.

The primal energy of Scorpio, illuminated by the Sun this month as it moves across our birth chart, carries enormous vitality and potential for new growth at this critical time in our human journey. Now is the time to look within, to face those shadowy aspects of ourselves that we see so clearly in the behaviour of other people.

This is a time of letting go, of shedding old ways of being, old ways of thinking, old ways of living on this ailing planet. As we move from patriarchal, world-dominance into a collaborative more equitable way of relating to one another on this earth, Mercury, still in Retrograde, back-tracked into Libra (collaboration, partnership, negotiation) on Wednesday, October 28th. Venus moved into Libra the same day, emphasising the importance of relating to others, weighing up, rebalancing and realigning.

Libra gifts us with the ability to see the other person’s point of view but may also cloud our decision-making with vacillation and procrastination. Now is our opportunity to stay calm as more restrictions curtail our freedom here in the North, as Covid cases rise.
As Mercury back tracks through Libra and will square stern Saturn/Pluto and Jupiter from October 30th to November 3rd, be patient and kind. Keep our hearts open, stay steady and calm.

May the stars carry your sadness away,
May the flowers fill your heart with beauty,
May hope forever wipe away your tears.
And above all, may silence make you strong—Chief Dan George.
