The Power of Quiet—New Moon in Cancer—July 20th

Posted by Ingrid Hoffman Over 1 Year Ago

We hold the Moon in our bellies. Our bodies respond to her reflective light and her contemplative darkness. This is her invitation to return to the silence. To not to expect too much of ourselves today.

The Moon is in Cancer (Great Mother) as she embraces the Sun, she faces those great Titans of the sky, Jupiter, Pluto and Saturn, all still moving Retrograde in Capricorn (Father, authorities.) We may be feeling hemmed in, frustrated, impatient and angry. The old order is dying. There are death rattles and birth pangs. It may be helpful to reflect back to the last Cancer New Moon on June 21st and whisper a word of encouragement to yourself. New Moons are seeding moments. They punctuate the momentum of our lives with an opportunity to begin again, start a-new, to re-set and re-calibrate. In this moment of pregnant darkness, let’s acknowledge the still calm place within and find the strength we need to change our thoughts about the world we see. Let’s focus on what is right, rather than the myriad things that are wrong. The signature of this new Moon is patience and restraint. This is a time for quiet.

Malidoma Patrice Somé observes, “the power of quiet is great. It generates the same feelings in everything one encounters. It vibrates with the cosmic rhythm of oneness. It is everywhere, available to anyone at any time. It is us, the force within that makes us stable, trusting, and loving.”

As we invite Grace and Love into our lives, we play our part in raising the energy around us.
